- Have a route in mind based on weather and traffic conditions.
- If wind is out of the north: The 38th Ave ride typically rides north to Barefoot and or NMB.
- If wind is out of the south: Typical route is the Moose Lodge loop via Grissom Pkwy, Harrelson Blvd, Business 17, Farrow Pkwy, etc.
- Some other defined route which you can easily explain.
- Make sure everyone has a helmet. No helmet, no ride.
- Introduce yourself to riders you don’t recognize or suspect may not be familiar with the area.
- If someone is obviously out of their league, the leader should suggest an alternative easier route.
- Brief all riders on the proposed route, mileage and pace.
- Have bail-out points should anyone have time constraints.
- Advise riders of sprint lines, bridges and subsequent re-group areas.
- Check the group after all intersections and turns to make sure the gruppo is compacto.
- If someone falls off the pace; check to see if they need help getting home.
