Whit Oliver (b. January 1977 – d. May 2021)

Whit Oliver was tragically lost to the world and his family on Mother’s Day 2021 in Greenville, SC. On a Sunday cycling stroll in his neighborhood, a senseless act of violence, left a family and community shaken.
Whit was a husband, father, brother, son, elite cyclist, financial professional, serial entrepreneur, cultural advocate, and friend to so many. He was born in Columbia, SC and moved to Myrtle Beach in middle school. He graduated from Myrtle Beach High School in 1995 with his then girlfriend and later wife, Eva Magill.
Whit was a natural athlete who enjoyed sports ranging from skateboarding in high school to snowboarding in Lake Tahoe to cycling in Belgium. He qualified for the Boston Marathon in his twenties, and after a snowboarding accident he took to cycling with the same enthusiasm. He trained in Belgium and raced in Europe at a semi-professional level and was a “CAT”egory 1 cyclist in the United States. Whit loved the sport of cycling and encouraged anyone and everyone to get involved.
Whit graduated from Georgia State University with a bachelor’s in economics and finance. Fluent in French, he attended the world-renowned HEC School of Management in Paris, France and received an MBA. His career enfolded in the financial industry and took him from banking in Atlanta and Paris back to corporate America in the Southeastern United States, most recently to Greenville, SC as director of finance and investments at Auro Hotels.
In addition to his executive career, Whit was a passionate serial entrepreneur. He was never satisfied with the “9 to 5” and felt he could do more to impact the world and inspire as many as he could to live a healthy, active lifestyle.
Whit and Eva were high school sweethearts who had parted ways to grow up separately, only to realize in their 30s that they were meant to be together. Whit and Eva were married in 2008 in Paris overlooking the Eiffel Tower and resided there until 2010. They were married 13 years in May 2021 and have a precocious, handsome 9-year-old son, ‘Bay’den Oliver.
Whit’s oldest sister, Ashely Permenter, still resides on the Grand Strand with her husband (Rick) and their children. His in-laws (Arthur and Marie Magill) also still reside in Myrtle Beach.
Whit’s younger sister, Caroline Olivo, resides in Greenville, SC with her children very near to Eva and Bay. Whit’s father, Dave, lives in Loris, SC and mother, Virginia, in Columbia, SC.
The family is grateful for your support and invites you to view this slideshow highlighting Whit’s rich but much too short life. The family also invites you to share memories and laughter throughout the event with the vast number of friends present from all parts of Whit’s life.
